Director's Message

The UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, Panjab University, Chandigarh (earlier called as UGC-Human Resource Development Centre/ UGC-Academic Staff College) is one of the first centre to be established in the our Bharat soon after the need of having such centres was highlighted under the National Policy on Education, 1986. The underlying idea of establishing such centres was to ensure excellence in higher education by providing ample opportunities to the teachers for upgrading their knowledge and shaping their personalities besides meeting emerging challenges in the field of higher education in India.

During the last three decades, UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, Panjab University, Chandigarh has carved a niche for itself as a centre of excellence, which remains enthusiastically inspired to imbibe, innovate and improve the existing discourses and systems of knowledge. The Centre aims at rediscovering the  engaging and exciting modules of pedagogy to disseminate new ideas/ knowledge among the teachers. We are all aware that rapid changes are taking place in the field of higher education primarily on account of the advent and impact of revolutionary developments in information technology and mass media. In order to meet effectively the emerging challenges and the concerns the Centre engages the invaluable human resources from all over India in its pursuit of re-orienting, re-shaping and re-freshening the agential capabilities of the community of teachers. As Ever Garrison remarks, “a teacher is a compass that activates the magnets of curiosity, knowledge and wisdom in the pupils,” our endeavor is to invite the best intellectual minds and innovators of knowledge to impart new skills and direction to the participants.

The Centre with its academic and administrative team is always devoted to render all possible help to address the hopes and aspirations of the participants. We very pleasantly solicit the feedback and accept suggestions that may trigger our thoughts innovatively to strive towards excellence and engagement.

The UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre website serves as a hub for disseminating a detailed information regarding the conduct of Faculty Induction Programmes and Refresher Courses in various disciplines, information about academic seminars, workshops, short term courses and other programmes launched from time to time.

It is a matter of immense pride for us that the UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, Panjab University, Chandigarh is being managed under the protean and inspiring leadership of our esteemed Vice-Chancellor, Professor Renu Vig.
